Visit The Broke & The Bookish
Undoubtedly, I did not get to everything on my to-be-read list this year. No complaints, though as it was my first year book blogging and the most books I’ve read in a single year as an adult. Have to start somewhere, right?
Here are the ones I wanted to read but never got to.
(But didn’t.)
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr – I own it and I still haven’t started it!
The Art of Asking: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help by Amanda Palmer – Good reason for this one: The library doesn’t have it and I’m still on hold for the e-book.
Landline by Rainbow Rowell – I brought this one home from the library twice and still didn’t read it.
Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy: Four Women Undercover in the Civil War by Karen Abbott – Not gonna lie, the size is what has put me off on this one.
The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton – I checked this one out of the library but it was a seven day check out and I returned it because I wasn’t finished by the due date. Haven’t checked it out again. Yet!
Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham – Again, on hold…
The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters – Own this one! It’s sitting on the shelf…
Since You Been Gone by Morgan Matson – I finally have this one checked out on my Kindle! I’ve requested to order this book about 6x while working at the library. Thanks, Baker & Taylor, for taking all of eternity to fill orders.
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel – On hold!
We Are Not Ourselves by Matthew Thomas – Own this one too and it’s also looking pretty on the shelf.
I think working at the library both helped my reading levels but also hindered when it came to being unable to focus and/or commit to one book. There were numerous times when I would bring home a stack of books (as if they weren’t going to ever be available again) and then go to work the following few days only to stumble upon something I felt like I wanted to read even more than the ones I had. See my problem? Maybe now that I’m not walking around the books every day it will be better. (My boss once told me that, in my case, working in a library was akin to an alcoholic working in a bar…Ha!)
So many books I want to read: Not That Kind of Girl, The Art of Asking, Landline (which is also on my list!). I would highly recommend Since You’ve Been Gone – it brought me back to contemporary this year.
My TTT!

I had it checked out for several weeks on my Kindle but, due to the new work hours, I missed out on reading it. :( But, I’m putting it on hold again! Not so eager to try Landline again, though. I was kinda meh feeling about what I did read.

Oh, no! That stinks. I’ve heard really good things, but also some meh ones too. Hopefully I’ll like it!

I was really hoping to get to Not That Kind of Girl, too, but ended up stuck on a forever-long list at the library and it ended up coming in at a terrible time. The library holds can definitely come in to play with what gets read!

Oh, definitely! I’m on a self-imposed book buying ban so I am not allowed to do anything but library books or Kindle freebies. The hold list is what is determining everything I read right now!

So many great choices…several of which are also on my TBR pile (though not on my 2014 to-read list). Of these, I’ve only read “Landline”. It was…okay… Here’s mine: http://melinmidlothian.blogspot.com/2015/01/top-ten-tuesday-2014s-i-meant-to-read.html
